04/08/2015 & 05/08/2015 Double Deal

Morning my train enthusiast readers. Wow Friday evening was amazing to say the least; a number of staff leaving Hornsey and it was a great celebration of their careers and a lot of alcohol was consumed. Suffice to say that I made it home but the only issue was the young lady in the very tight black shiny trousers at Liverpool Street underground station that lured me like a siren to the central line instead of the circle line ! 😉

Let me just slip in that on Sunday whilst driving past Whyteleafe South station two cl66s were seen on an engineers train 66080 & 66151. Anyone with the train IDs please leave a comment or get in touch.

Rather mundane day to be honest as I had rather a lot on in the office as the countdown to my transfer begins. At Selhurst 442415, 442423 passed with 1U13 GTW-VIC and 5M05 SRS-CLJ ECS was 377706. The next down Gatwick Express was 442404 (1D14 VIC-GTW) which was followed by 377108 on 2F04 VIC-ORE. My 2V98 SRS-BDM 377508, 377212 arrived in early and we headed off to work.

1W03 BDM-BTN passed me at Herne Hill formed of 387128, 387101.

Kings Cross saw me catch 1C42 KGX-CBG 365520 to go to Finsbury Park, however as we left 67029 was the new Thunderbird. From ‘The Park’ I boarded 313048, 313038 2F07 MOG-SVG.

Nothing was in Ferme Park but durting the day I did manage to spot 66763 on 6O65 Peterboro Maaint Shed Gbrf to Tonbridge West Yard Gbrf. Later I caught 2J00 LET-MOG 313036, 313122 then in to ‘The Cross’ on 317338 1P67 PBO-KGX.

Over to St Pancras and on 387102, 387109 1W43 BDM-BTN to East Croydon. While on it at Blackfriars 375310, 375303 were on the 1K87 BFR-DVP pn platform 3.

TUESDAY 04/08/2015.

You can lead a horse to water but you cannot make him drink. Likewise you can put indicator boards and announcements on stations but you cannot stop people asking “Is this the Victoria Train?” Well I was at the station normal time this morning despite a crap nights sleep. 1D12 VIC-GTW was a fractionally late with 442416, 442420. 2A11 BTN-VIC 377465, 377437 was just a single minute late today. 7O48 Acton T.C. to Crawley Foster Yeoman was powered through platform 3 by 59002. 5V94 came from the north this morning into platform 2 to form 2V94 SRS-LUT 319436, 319010. For some reason 5L01 VIC-EGR ECS 377202, 377423, 377442 was on platform 3 this morning. 1U13 GTW-VIC headed North with 442414, 442413 doing the honours. 5M05 SRS-CLJ trundled in to collect the guard 377706 was the stock. 442408 headed southbound with 1D14 VIC-GTW followed by 2F04 VIC-ORE 377406. 2V98 SRS-BDM 377509, 377514 was spot on time.

1W03 BDM-BTN 387126, 387108 passed me at Herne Hill in glorious sunshine.

Drum roll and trumpet blasts please for “The Legendary Quest for 395016” … ta da aaaa. …. Failed again! 1J06 STp-RAM 395008, 5T94 STP-MDW 395009 amd 1F08 STP-FAV 395017 all bore witness to the man jump the barrier and get stopped by the gateline staff ….

Across at Kings Cross 67029 is still the Thunderbird and 1C42 KGX-CBD 365520 (second day running for this unit on this service). 2F04 MOG-SVG 313032, 313024 too me to Hornsey and on the way 66065 was at Ferm Park having formed GRAIN FYM 886E35C404 6 * FRMPK LC N 6D A.

It was slightly unexpected yesterday when 1Z82 0918 London Kings Cross to Prestonpans popped up on P2 system and more surprised when it was Top and Tailed by 57301, 57310. Heading out of the depot I caught 2J42 SVG-MOG 313047, 313030 to Finsbury Park. While there 6H86 Heck-Bow Plasmors passed with 66176 on the front. I then caught 2Y87 WGC-KGX 321408 in to Kings Cross.

Over the road and on to 1W19 BDM-BTN 387124, 387110 heading for East Croydon. At Blackfriars 465930, 466032 was on platform 3 with 5Y47 BFR-TON. Once at East Croydon I managed to get over to platform 5 to pick up 377706 2M35 SCY-MKC.

In Selhurst Heavy Repair shed is 442422 (last one that will receive a heavy overhaul!), 313213 was in midlife overhaul as well. On one of the other road was 170422 which was about to be converted in to a class 171 and was still in Scotrail livery.
